How to set up a Search System

Overview

Search Systems are very useful for visitors who want to locate specific Content Items on your website.

A Search System basically consists of a Search box, where visitors enter the term they want to search for, and a Search Results page which display a listing of Content Items (HTML pages, Documents, News) that contain the search term.

Tribiq CMS comes with the "Search Results" Plugin, which you should simply add to a page normally with the alias 'search' e.g. http://yoursite.com/search.html.

How can I set up a Search System?

1. Login as an Admin and go to the page where you want to display the Search Box and Results.

2. In Slot Mode, click the "Add a Plugin into the Slot" button on the Slot to display the Search Results.

3. For the "Plugin Instance in Slot at Item Level:" option click the "Select Plugin Instance..." button.

4. Select the "Search Results" Plugin and click the "View Instances" button (or double click in the Plugin icon to see the Instances).

5. Select the "Search Results (default settings)" Instance and click the "Choose" button.

6. Click the "Save" button.

How can I add a Search Box to my website?

You may also want to add a Search box on all pages of your website. For this follow these steps:

1. Go to any random page of your website. Click the "Add a Plugin into the Slot" button on the slot you want to have the Search box.

2. For the "Plugin Instance in Slot at Template Family Level:" option click the "Select Plugin Instance..." button.

3. Select the "Search Entry Box" Plugin and click the "View Instances" button (or double click in the Plugin icon to see the Instances).

4. Select the "Search Entry Box (default settings)" Instance and click the "Choose" button.

5. Click the "Save" button.
